Many Métis groups seek federal recognition as Native American groups, tribes or bands. The United Métis does not! We do not want to be a dependent savreign nation to the United States. We only seek to be recognized as indigenous as defined under the UN declaration of Indigenous Rights with all rights listed there in. At no time is the United Metis Tribe going to petition for recognition under the Title 25 of the US code.
